Whether you are preparing your own holiday wish list or combing the internet for gift ideas for your crafty friends, 2017 was a great year for new, fabulous craft supplies. I have a handful of new materials that I fell in love with this year. I hope this list of my favorite craft supplies of 2017 makes a good gift guide to help with your holiday shopping.
Color Shift Paint
I was able to get a sneak peek at FolkArt’s new line of Color Shift paints at the Creativation trade show early in 2017. They were the scene-stealer from the Plaid Crafts booth, and I have loved working with them this year. They are a fun new style of paint that crafters would love to try out.
My own projects using Color Shift paints:
Bath Bomb Supplies
Bath bombs have been incredibly popular in the past year or two, and they are just as much fun to make as they are to use. Give your loved one the supplies needed to make their own bath bombs.
My own bath bomb projects:
Lorann Oils
Once I discovered I can use candy oils for so much more than making candy, I kind of went nuts. I have created so many projects using Lorann’s candy and essential oils. They are a fun, unexpected craft supply to give this holiday season.
Some of my DIYs using Lorann Oils:
- Candy Scented Unicorn Slime
- Pecan Pie Sugar Scrub
- Homemade Scented Bubbles
- Mermaid Lotion Bars
- Citronella Candles
Faux Succulents
I love real succulents, but there are some crafts that call for the plastic versions. Thankfully, faux succulents are very realistic looking!
I used faux succulents for these tutorials:
Letter Boards & Accessories
Letter boards were huge this year, and I am sure any craft lover would be thrilled to receive a letter board kit with a few accessories.
My previous posts about letter boards:
Shrink Plastic
Relive your youth with shrink plastic! There are tons of ways you can use this crazy fun craft supply.
I made these projects using shrink plastic this year:
Heat Transfer Vinyl
I am way late to the heat transfer vinyl trend, but I have fully embraced it now. Give your craft friend a stash of HTV for Christmas, and she will love you for it!
These are my HTV project tutorials:
- Glittery Trick or Treat Bags
- Flock Fall Tea Towels
- Iridescent Mickey Mouse T-shirt
- Holographic Festival Shirt
Non-standard Sized Mason Jars
You’ll be hard pressed to find a crafter who doesn’t already have a hoard of mason jars, but they may only have standard size jars. I have fallen in love with both tiny mini mason jars and my half gallon mason jar this year.
Here’s how I used these mason jars:
- Cold Brew Iced Tea
- Cold Brew Coffee
- Red, White and Bleu Salads
- Scented Soaking Salt Gifts
- Cranberry Lip Scrub
HP Sprocket
Full disclosure: I am a brand ambassador for HP. But, that doesn’t affect the fact that I think an HP Sprocket would make an awesome gift for your crafty friends this year!

GIFT IDEAS FOR ADVANCED CRAFTERS
Brenda Burnett says
Thank you. By any chance do you sell porcelain like resin faces for use in crafts. Use to be used to make pins and jewelry with Friendly Plastic. They came in white and African American faces, and they were front and side views.

I don’t sell any craft supplies myself, these are supplies from online retailers that I enjoy. Sorry!
