Last year I went on a mermaid kick, but I haven’t made a mermaid inspired project in a while. I thought a mermaid mason jar would be a fun and simple DIY for the beginning of Summer Mason Jar Week. I used a new paint from FolkArt that gives the mason jar a frosted glass look.
Watch this short video to see how easy it is to get this sweet mermaid look for your next project. I publish two new creative videos each week on my YouTube channel. Make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss any of the fun.
The overlapping circles and ombre paint colors are what sell this mermaid paint finish. Doesn’t it look like what you would imagine a mermaid’s tail would look like? If you change up the color scheme, you could use this same technique to make a cool dragon jar too!
I used my jar to hold the mermaid makeup brushes I made last year. Since the paint is all on the outside of the jar, you could use it as a candle holder or to hold food still. How would you use a mermaid mason jar?
This project is my first tutorial for Summer Mason Jar Week. All this week I will be sharing fun summer-related mason jar projects. Be sure to check out the projects from the other bloggers participating in this fun week too!
