Every teacher I have ever asked (and I have a lot of teacher friends) says that a hand-written note is one of the favorite gifts you can give, and gift cards come a close second. When it comes to the end of the school year or teacher appreciation week, give your student’s teacher a gift he is sure to use and dress it up with a teacher appreciation gift card holder.
TEACHER APPRECIATION GIFT CARD HOLDER
WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE A GIFT CARD HOLDER
I used my Cricut to make this simple, quick gift card holder. I picked colors that complemented the apple on gift card I was giving, but you can choose whatever cardstock or scrapbook paper you would like to customize this gift.

ASSEMBLING THE TEACHER GIFT CARD HOLDER
I started by using my Cricut to cut out the gift card sleeve from red cardstock. Remember to install the scoring tool into your Cricut before cutting out this design. I weeded out all the intricate triangles and folded them on the scored lines.
Next, I used a glue stick to assemble the gift card sleeve.
Next, I cut the gift card tag out of green cardstock. Remember to swap the scorer out for a black Cricut marker before cutting. The design will automatically add the TO and FROM to the tag.
I used some glitter tape to attach the gift card to the back of the tag so that it doesn’t accidentally slip out of the card envelope.
All that was left to do was to add the child’s teacher’s name to the front of the tag. If you wanted to, you could add a ribbon to the hole in the tag as well.

When it comes to teacher gift ideas, gift cards are near the top of the list. Which card you give will depend on the tastes of your child’s teacher, but these are always great gifts:
- Barnes and Noble or a local bookstore
- Gas station
- Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, or another local coffee shop

Is there a certain size that you used for it to fit a gift card? When I printed the template as is, the outer envelope was 4.356″ by 1.964″ while the insert was 2.889″ by 1.521″ – too small for a normal gift card. Thx for any tips.
I am not clear what you mean by printing the template. I linked to a Cricut Design Space canvas that you can send to your Cricut machine to cut out the file. The finished cardholder will fit standard gift cards.
