When I was teaching, August meant it was time to fully shift into school mode, even though we still had a few weeks before classes began. Maybe that’s why I still get the urge to plan bulletin board or find cute school supplies as soon as July is over. This year I used the same flamingo mold that I used to make these jelly soaps to make some adorable rainbow flamingo paper clips. These clips can be used as standard paper clips or as cute bookmarks!

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE DIY PAPER CLIPS
This same technique can be used to make any kind of paper clips you would like just by swapping out the silicone mold! I would recommend finding a mold that has cavities that are 1-1 1/2 inches across at their widest point. Anything larger would require larger sized paper clips.

USING A SILICONE MOLD TO MAKE PAPER CLIPS
I mixed my resin according to the package directions, including the 2-cup mixing method, and divided the resin into seven smaller cups. The amount of resin you will need to mix will be determined by the amount of liquid your mold will hold. You can test this by filling the mold with water and emptying that water into a measuring cup.
I then dyed the resin using transparent resin dyes. You can also color resin with acrylic paint or alcohol ink. I added the resin to the mold and let it cure overnight before popping the resin flamingos out of the mold. I love using silicone molds with resin because the flexible silicone makes removing the project SO easy.
Finally, I used hot glue to adhere the paper clips to the back of the flamingos. That’s a weird sentence. Be sure to position the paper clip as shown with the red flamingo above, or the paper clip won’t be useable.
USING RAINBOW FLAMINGO PAPER CLIPS
I just adore this color flock of flamingo paper clips. Wouldn’t these make a great back-to-school gift for your kids’ teachers?
You can also use these paper clips to mark your page in your favorite read. The flamingo will make it easy to find your place between reading sessions!
