When it comes to parties, the more color and patterns the better in my book. That’s why I love the way these clear favor boxes turned out. Because it is made from clear acetate, whatever you fill the box with becomes the star of the show. Colorful candies, bright shreds of paper, rainbow confetti, they all look amazing inside this little package. Make your next party even more colorful by learning how easy it is to make a clear favor box with the Cricut scoring wheel.
The Cricut Maker cuts a wide variety of materials, so I wanted to give this beautiful foiled acetate a go. These sheets of plastic are printed with small confetti-like shapes, making them perfect for parties.
You can see how perfectly clear the acetate is. I thought it would be a really cool material to use to make a favor box for a party. Whatever you put inside the box will be clearly visible through the acetate.
To protect the pretty side of the acetate, place it right side down on the cutting mat. Set this design to score and cut in Cricut Design Space. Design Space asks you what material you are using, so be sure to choose Foil Acetate from the list of options.
Design Space will prompt you to install the Single Scoring Wheel (which is recommended for acetate). This tool uses up to 10X the pressure of the scoring stylus so you can make perfect, effortless folds. Just open the Cricut adaptive tool system and insert the scoring wheel into place. Close the tool system up and your machine will create the score lines for you. After the Cricut has finished scoring, Design Space will prompt you to remove the scoring wheel and replace it with the blade. The software will then finish cutting out the favor box.
When you peel the design from the cutting mat, you will have something that looks like this. It will be super easy to fold along the score lines the scoring wheel created for you to make a crisp square favor box. I used clear glue dots on the flaps of the box to hold it together.
After you have assembled the box, it should look like this.
This particular design has a pretty flower-shaped closure at the top.
Now your favor box is ready to be filled with party treats! You can hide small favors in paper shred or gift wrap or fill the box with tasty treats!
