HOW TO TURN CRESCENT ROLLS INTO HEARTS
Start by removing the crescent dough from the packaging. Use a serrated knife to cut the dough log in half.
Place the two halves of the dough next to each other. Unroll a small amount of dough from each log and overlap the dough slightly. Press this overlap together to connect the two logs.
Use the knife to cut slices from this double log of crescent dough. You should be able to make about eight slices from one package of dough.
Pinch the bottom of this slice of dough together to make the point of the heart. Round the top of the dough to make the top of the heart. Finally, for these pastries, you will want to create an indentation in the pastry to hold the cream cheese filling. Do this by pressing the dough down into a heart shape in the middle of the dough.

INGREDIENT VARIATIONS FOR HEART-SHAPED DANISHES
- You can use either the crescent roll dough with the perforations or the crescent dough that is one large piece. If you use the perforated dough meant for crescent rolls you may need to press the dough together a bit so it doesn’t split apart.
- You can use any fresh berries you would like for the cream cheese mixture. Blackberries and strawberries are both delicious options.
- If fresh berries aren’t an option you can substitute cherry pie filling or strawberry jam. These options will make the cream cheese Danish pastries more sweet.
- You can also change out the plain cream cheese and use strawberry cream cheese or another flavor of cream cheese.
- Change the flavor profile of the simple glaze by making it with fresh orange juice instead of lemon juice.
