I know, I know I am late to both the galaxy and pop socket bandwagons. I finally bought myself a pop socket online, and I love it. It was just a bit too basic for my style, so I busted out a few trusty craft supplies to give it a new look. Learn how to make your own galaxy pop socket with Mod Podge and Dimensional Magic.
GALAXY POP SOCKET WITH MOD PODGE
WHAT YOU NEED TO CUSTOMIZE A POP SOCKET
You can buy Pop Sockets in a variety of colors and patterns. I started with a pop socket that already had a galaxy-esque design printed on it. If your pop socket does not, you can achieve the same effect by painting on a base coat of black and then splattering on some blue and purple craft paint. Let it dry completely before moving on to the next steps.

HOW TO CRAFT YOUR OWN POP SOCKET WITHOUT RESIN
Before I get started, I need to tell you NOT to do what I did. Don’t try to decorate your own phone grip while the pop socket is attached to your phone. If you have a swappable Pop Socket, you should take the top off the socket before adding the Mod Podge and glitter. This better way of proceeding would have saved me a lot of mess. Don’t be like me.
DIY POP SOCKET CUSTOMIZATION INSTRUCTIONS
I added some major glitter effect with new Mega Glitter Mod Podge. Since I still wanted the blue and purple to show through, I only put a very small amount of the Mod Podge onto the top of the pop socket. If you want a totally glittery look, you could completely cover it with glitter. Let the Mod Podge dry fully.
Make sure the pop socket is on a flat surface (again much easier if it’s not on your phone case). Then add Dimensional Magic to cover the top of the pop socket. Dimensional Magic has really strong surface tension, so it will level itself off to create a smooth shiny finish. Add small amounts at a time, so that it does not overflow off the top of the pop socket.
Next, use a pin to pop or remove any bubbles from the surface of the Dimensional Magic. If you don’t remove the bubbles now, they will harden in place permanently.
Let the Dimensional Magic dry completely. Then place your sparkly and shiny galaxy pop socket on the back of your phone or phone case to give you extra grip in style!
A cool pop socket like this is a fun way to add some pizzazz to a plain phone case. If you make your own, put a photo on Insta and tag me. I would love to see it!
