By now you probably know that it’s a pet peeve of mine that all the cool beer-related crafts come out for Father’s Day. I suppose I am playing into that idea a bit with this post, but an etched dollar store beer mug can be a great gift for Dad OR Mom! Instead of using hard glass etching solution (aka acid) to personalize the glass mug, I used a special supply that gives the glass the look of real etching without the harsh chemicals.
I’ve had this Martha Stewart Frost Etching Effect forever because a little goes a long way. It really does give glass an etched look much more quickly and easily. (Not a sponsored post, it’s just cool stuff). You can even use a teeny bit of craft paint to give the frost effect a bit of color! Check out this handy guide for more info about curing the glass after applying the effect, and how to wash the glass after use.
Watch this quick video to see how to make your own etched dollar store mug. I release two new videos on my YouTube channel each week. If you aren’t subscribed to my channel, you might be missing out on the fun!
If you would like to use the same Shakespeare quote design that I did, you can download the graphic here. Just upload it into Design Space, remove the white areas, turn it into a cut file and size it for your mug. Please only use this design for non-commercial use.
I switched over to a white background, so you could tell the beer I used wasn’t actually green! The dollar store mugs actually hold two cans worth of beer, so you can really feel like a king when you are drinking!
