COLOR SHIFTING VALENTINE’S SIGN

January 15, 2019 by madincrafts 2 Comments

COLOR SHIFTING VALENTINE’S SIGN

I am not big on decorating for Valentine’s Day. I am usually still so wiped out from all the Christmas festivities, that I can’t muster the enthusiasm for a mid-February holiday. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to dabble in the fun colors and finishes associated with Valentine’s Day. If you want to add a touch of Valentine’s Day pizzazz to your home, you can make this color shifting Valentine’s sign with a few supplies and a half hour of your time.

The unique shifting finishes of the color shift paint are, I think, perfect for Valentine’s Day projects. I don’t know why I associate flashy and attention-grabbing colors and finishes with Valentine’s but I always do.  It just seems like an extra sparkly holiday.

Watch this short video to see me go through the process of painting my LOVE sign. Spoiler alert: I completely switched my game plan about halfway through! If you like this video, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel where I post tons of fun, creative content.

I added even more visual interest by painting the O in LOVE with Glitterific paint. I have said it before, but I adore this paint formula. The gel base holds multiple sizes and shapes of glitter, so you end up with a stunning sparkle without any of the mess. Definitely worth trying if you’ve never used it.

The shift in the color of the paint is more noticeable in person than on camera.  These two pictures kind of show you how different the paint finish looks under different light angles.  The color changes slightly, and the finish is much more metallic in some angles.   On what kind of project would you use this fun color shifting paint?
