Many children begin their love of reading with a Dr. Seuss book in their hands. The whimsical illustrations and silly rhymes grab their attention and stimulate their imagination. Those stories and characters become so ingrained in our minds, that we can recognize them almost anywhere. I made a set of minimalist Seuss bookmarks to celebrate the anniversary of Theodor Geisel’s birthday. The graphics are simple, but the stories they represent are unmistakable.

On the front side, the bookmark have minimalist depictions of favorite Seuss stories. From left to right: The Lorax, The Cat in the Hat, The Sneetches (and other stories), Horton Hears a Who, and Green Eggs and Ham.
The reverse of the bookmarks each has a quote that is central to the book’s theme. I printed out my bookmarks on white cardstock. cut them apart, and added tassels with embroidery thread. The tassels are totally optional, but they make finding your place in your book that much easier.
