In the world of Pinterest, room makeovers are immaculately staged and then photographed with wide-angle lenses in perfect lighting.  Craft projects are shot in specially-designed light boxes, and the photos are edited for proper exposure and sharpness.  It can be easy to fall under the impression that we all live in a happy, shiny, perfect project world.  But the truth is fails happen.  I have had my share over the years.

Just recently I shared my story about the time I failed over and over as I was was redoing my daughter’s new dresser.

And there was the time I learned that gluing glass stones to a wreath doesn’t make them weigh less.

You probably don’t even remember the time I learned the hard way what spray paint does to styrofoam.

My cousin and I still laugh about the time I didn’t stir the KILZ primer and my walls looked like that dude from Raiders.

I have even had some of my fails featured over at CraftFail.  Like the time I unintentionally made a goiter necklace.

Or the pinworthy time I turned elegant pineapple flowers into Cabbage Patch doll belly buttons.  That’s still a favorite of mine.

Oh yeah.  Let’s not forget every single time I’ve tried to frost a cake in the history of ever. Please enjoy the four-fingered diabetes glove, my chunky butter frosting, the busted spare tires, evil Ming Ming,  and finally the just cover it all with whipped cream and hope no one notices ice cream cake.

I don’t always love to admit it, but fails happen.  Sometimes you just have to sprinkle glitter over the whole thing, and pretend that was your plan all along.  That’s the sparkling truth.

Now that you’ve read about my “sparkling truth”, it’s time to share yours! A sparkling truth is a moment when you sparkle through unexpected challenges, brushing yourself off in a bubbly style.
