I know some of you are already knee deep in back to school craziness, but we still have a few weeks before my kids head back to the classroom. Many parents give their kids’ teachers gifts at the end of the year, but not as many start off the year with a small token of their appreciation. I’ve shared several DIY teacher gift ideas here on Mad in Crafts, but I like to make sure that the gifts are practical as well as clever.
This simple clothespin and chalkboard sign allows the teacher to use it however she sees fit. Whether she uses it to feature fantastic student work or as place for students to claim unsigned papers, the chalkboard can be erased and reused over and over.
I found the adorable school-themed clothespins at Target, but you could create your own easily enough with craft paint.
Wrap the sign up with a set of chalk markers and you have a pretty and practical gift for your child’s new teacher! Watch the video below to see how I put it all together. If you haven’t already subscribed to my YouTube channel, please do! Subscribers get first looks at projects like this.
