KIDS CRAFT: DREAM IN A BOTTLE KEY CHAIN

December 10, 2016 by madincrafts 1 Comment

Holiday break is looming, so it’s a good idea to start stockpiling activities to keep your little ones busy while they are home.  We do a lot of movies over Christmas break, and I am excited to show my kids the new Disney’s The BFG movie now that it is out on Blu-ray, Digital HD & Disney Movies Anywhere.  I read the book when I was in grade school, and I think my kids will love it too. In the story, The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) and Sophie go to Dream Country to catch dreams.  This fun kids craft will let your children catch their own dream in a bottle, and then turn that pretty dream into a useful key chain.

KIDS CRAFT: DREAM IN A BOTTLE KEY CHAIN

HOW TO MAKE DREAM IN A BOTTLE KEY CHAIN

I am using tiny stoppered bottles that used to be filled with nail glitters, but you can buy small bottles online or in the craft store.  Start by adding a drop or two of food coloring into the bottle and a small amount of water.

Make a tiny funnel from a piece of scrap paper, and use it to add some glitter into the liquid.

Then tear apart a piece of a cotton ball, and use tweezers to place it into the jar.  When it absorbs the colored liquid, it will give the bottle a dreamy, cloud effect.

Add more food coloring and water, if needed.  Then glue the stopper into place with strong glue.

Use alphabet beads and plastic lacing to create a key chain with the word DREAM.  Add the bottle and the key chain to a split ring, and you are finished!  Your very own dream in a bottle!
