How to Open a Tight Jar

August 30, 2012 by madincrafts Leave a Comment

As I was making dinner, I pulled the jar of pasta sauce out of the cupboard and gave the lid a good twist.  And nothing happened.  Did I pound on the bottom of the jar?  Did I run the lid under hot water?  Did I call in my husband for assistance?  No.  Because I know the secret of how to open a tight jar.  But it occurred to me that maybe not everyone does.

So, here, my friends, is the best way to solve this very First World Problem.

That lid is tight, yo

The secret is in the seal. The only thing keeping you from your delicious jarred food stuff is the vacuum seal. Once you break it, the lid will open right up.

It's magic

Just wedge a bottle opener under the edge of the lid, and gently push down on the opener like a lever.  You will hear a slight “pop” when the seal releases.

and boom goes the dynamite

Open the jar.  Boom.

And here’s the whole process in a handy pinnable graphic.  Tell your friends.  Change the world.
