HOW TO MAKE A PROSECCO MARGARITA
WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE PROSECCO MARGARITAS
Since you are going to be mixing the Prosecco into a cocktail, you don’t need to buy the most expensive bottle of Prosecco in the store. Since you are saving on the sparkling wine, you can maybe splash out on the tequila a bit. You will want tequila Blanco for this margarita to keep the flavors light and citrusy.

HOW DO YOU RIM A GLASS WITH SALT?
I worked as a bartender while I was in college, but it was in a very beer and whiskey environment so I didn’t get asked to make margaritas very often. I once had a customer ask for a margarita on the rocks with a salt rim, and I literally had no clue how to do that. So, here I am saving you the same embarrassment!
Adding salt to the rim of a cocktail is very easy, and it can add depth to sweet or acidic cocktails like margaritas. Start by prepping your margarita salt. You can usually find salt meant for margaritas at the grocery or liquor store. You can use coarse salt or flake salt if you don’t have margarita salt on hand.
Pour a small amount of margarita salt into a shallow dish. You don’t want to dip the cocktail glass directly into the margarita salt container because it will add moisture to the container which will make the remaining salt clump up.
Next, take a wedge of fresh lime and run the inside of the wedge all the way around the lip of your cocktail glass. This should leave a rim of fresh lime juice all around the glass. Then, place the glass upside down onto the salt-covered plate. Rotate the glass a bit to ensure the salt is sticking to the lime juice.
Lift the glass and place it right-side up on the bar. You should now have a nice even rim of salt on the glass. When you drink from the glass you will get the taste of the salt along with the sweet, citrus flavors of the margarita.
MIXING UP A PROSECCO MARGARITA
You will obviously need to rim all your glasses before you begin mixing the cocktails since turning a full glass of margarita upside down would be sad for everyone.
Add a few ice cubes to each glass to make sure your drinks are nice and cold. Consider storing your tequila in the refrigerator or freezer for a couple hours before mixing drinks to make them even colder!
Pour in the tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Give the mixture a gentle stir.
Next, pour in the Prosecco. Depending on the size of your cocktail glasses, you may need to pour a bit in and wait for the fizz to go down before adding the rest of the Prosecco in.
Garnish each margarita with a slice of fresh lime. Some guests may prefer to use a straw, but drinking over the salted rim is really the way to go with this cocktail.
PROSECCO MARGARITA COCKTAIL RECIPE
If you are making margaritas for a crowd, consider making this as a big-batch cocktail. Keep the ratio of tequila, triple sec, and lime juice the same and mix them together in an ice-filled pitcher. Then fill individual glasses two-thirds full with the margarita mixture from the pitcher and top off with Prosecco. This will keep the Prosecco as bubbly as possible.
Just remember that there is quite a bit of alcohol in this Prosecco cocktail, so enjoy it responsibly!
