The last time I participated in a Mason Jar Week with fellow bloggers, I shared how to make a cute fairy in jar. If you are more a gnome person than a fairy person, this DIY has you covered. I found several miniatures at the dollar store and paired the with a dollar store jar to create this cute dollar store gnome home in a jar!
I specifically chose a flat-sided, cookie jar style jar for this project because it is much easier to add the items to the jar. It’s also way easier to see the complete gnome home when it is done.
I started by adding some craft glue to the bottom of a miniature windmill from Dollar Tree and gluing it to the bottom of the jar. Since the jar is flat on the bottom, it sits perfectly. I prefer to use craft glue rather than hot glue so I have a bit more work time.
Next, I added some reindeer moss to the bottom of the jar. This stuff is messy, so be prepared to vacuum after! I also glued a small gnome with a watering can in place near the windmill.
Finally I added a little wheelbarrow into the scene as well.
The jar looks especially cute tucked in with other plants. I think these would be adorable centerpiece ideas for a baby shower or garden party!
This project is part of Summer Mason Jar Week. Make sure you don’t miss the projects from Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3. Be sure to check out the projects from the other bloggers participating in this fun week too!
