HOW TO TURN MINI TREES INTO A STAR WREATH
The finished wreath is roughly 30″ x 30″ so you end up with a very sizable Christmas decoration for so little money! The wreath will make a statement above a mantel, on your front door, or hanging on the outside of our house.
The base of the Christmas wreath is very easy to put together. Then you can have all the fun of personalizing your star wreath to match your decor style.
Assembling the Star Wreath
- Start by removing the bottom plastic piece from the trees.
- Lay two trees in a line so each is pointing in opposite directions. The metal sections should overlap.
- Use 2 zip ties to secure the metal sections of those two trees together.
- Repeat this process twice with the remaining four trees.
- Lay the pairs of trees on top of each other to make a star shape.
- Use zip ties to secure them all in place.
- Add a large ribbon bow to the center of the star wreath.
This bow will cover the metal portions of the trees and any zip ties.
- Fluff the mini trees’ branches to fill out the star shape.
- Add floral sprigs and pinecones to the wreath and secure with hot glue.
CUSTOMIZING THE STAR WREATH
Customize the Wreath Base
Dollar Tree sells these mini trees in both green and white variations, and you can use either color as the base for your wreath. You can use spray snow, spray glitter, or flocking powder to change the look of those branches themselves. Go crazy and spray paint the mini trees baby pink or neon yellow!
Change Up the Ribbon
The dollar store sells both holiday-themed ribbon and pre-made bows, so you can choose how much time you want to spend on perfecting your bow. You could also swap out the bow entirely and use a wooden sign, ornaments, or some other Christmas decoration in the center of the wreath design.
Decorating the Wreath
You can find so many floral sprig options at the dollar store for so much less than you would pay at craft stores! Go for a more traditional look like my wreath or choose a more vibrant color palette. Consider adding holiday figures, ornaments, beads, or lights to your beautiful star wreath as well!
