Summertime calls for tasty summer cocktails, and all the best summer cocktails call for salt! I found adorable mini mason jar salt shakers at Dollar Tree and decorated them quickly with stencils and paint. Wrap these up with a bottle of tequila and a pair of margarita glasses for an adorable hostess gift!
MINI MASON JAR SALT SHAKERS
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
To add some fiesta flair to the salt shakers, I used adhesive stencils and green craft paint. Be sure to choose craft paint that can be cured in the oven so that these shakers can be washed, if needed.

HOW TO PAINT MINI MASON JAR SALT SHAKERS
Dollar Tree carried both mini mason jar mugs with solid screw on tops, and those with these shaker tops.
I love using adhesive stencils because you get such clean lines, even on curved surfaces. You can achieve the same look with vinyl, if you don’t have these particular stencils.
I blended the bright green and dark green paint into each other so the word would have a fun ombre.
After I removed the stencils, let the paint dry. It’s important to allow the paint cure according to package directions before putting these salt shakers to use. You wouldn’t want the designs to rub or wash off.
USING MASON JAR SALT SHAKERS
I filled one shaker with regular table salt and one with a larger grain salt. You can experiment with different salt varieties or try infusing the salt with lime zest!
This project is my second tutorial for Summer Mason Jar Week. All this week I will be sharing fun summer-related mason jar projects. Did you see yesterday’s mermaid post? Be sure to check out the projects from the other bloggers participating in this fun week too!
