Now that the sun is finally peeking out again in Michigan, I needed to dig out my sunglasses. Unfortunately, since they were floating around my purse all winter, the lenses were so scratched up that I couldn’t see through them! When I bought new sunglasses and knew I needed to make sure they didn’t get wrecked in my purse. I picked up a few cheap cases at the dollar store and gave them both cute makeovers. I made one more waterproof case to take with me to the lake as well. I am sharing all three DIY sunglasses cases with you today, so you can make your own!
For the first case, I used Fabric Creations new Fantasy Glitter paint. I adore the whole Fabric Creations line, and this glitter paint is a great addition to it. I was planning on using a few different colors of the paint, but I ended up just using the Galaxy variety. The clear base holds glitter in multiple colors and sizes, so it’s extra glittery! I applied two coats of the paint, but I probably could have gotten away with one.
I turned my green case into an easy cactus. If you have the most remedial of sewing skills (AKA threading a needle and knotting the thread), you can make this case. Top it off with a yarn pom cactus blossom attached to the zipper pull!
The third case upcycles an empty powdered drink container into a sturdy sunglasses case. I finally used my adorable cactus washi tape to decorate the container, and sealed it up with dishwasher-safe Mod Podge to make it waterproof.
