If I am planning an at-home birthday party, you can bet I will be making multiple trips to the dollar store ahead of time. Tablecloths, gift wrap, streamers… they all get thrown away at the end of the night, so why would you spend a ton of money on them? Before you go spending your hard earned money at a party supply store, check out this list of party supplies I always buy at the dollar store.

Frozen Birthday Party Decorations
I always buy my plastic party TABLE COVERS at the dollar store because they are two to three times cheaper than those you would buy at the grocery store or party store. They are cheap but they still protect my tables, and I don’t feel bad about throwing them out at the end of the night. Dollar Tree always carries a wide range of colors so I can always find ones to match the party theme.
I have a nasty habit of losing BIRTHDAY CANDLES before they are needed again, so I tend to buy them from the dollar store. My local dollar stores carry both the number candles and traditional birthday candles as well.
It’s a no brainer to go to the dollar store for mylar balloons, but I buy regular PARTY BALLOONS there too.
I do not believe you have to have PARTY FAVORS at a child’s birthday party, but if you do, don’t spend much money on them. You can usually find coloring books, bubbles, and other little treats for cheap at the dollar store.
Unless you are planning a super complex streamer design, dollar store STREAMERS are just as good as the one you would pay twice as much for at a party supply store. They are slightly thinner, but for most uses you would never notice the difference.
Dr. Seuss Party Pom Decorations
Whether I am hosting the party or attending, I almost always buy my TISSUE PAPER AND PAPER SHRED, GIFT BAGS, and BOWS from the dollar store. Gift wrap is easily the best deal at the dollar store. Why pay $8 bucks for gift wrap they are just going to ball up and throw away anyway, right?
