I know I am late to the party, but I just discovered the wonders of cold brew coffee last year. You get all the smooth, rich taste of coffee without any of the stomach irritation of regular drip coffee. For a while, I thought I could only get cold brew coffee from a coffee shop, but a little bit of research showed me that it isn’t too hard to make at home. When I found a few mason jar products meant for making cold brew coffee, I was so excited to make my first batch at home.

HOW DO YOU MAKE COLD BREW COFFEE IN A JAR?
Watch this short video to see how to make your own cold brew with no mess! I release two creative videos a week on my YouTube channel, so be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already.
No Mess Cold Brew Coffee
- Fill the mason jar with 8 cups of water.
- Insert the filter in the top of the jar.
- Fill the mason jar infuser filter with approximately 1 cup of coffee grounds.
You can adjust this measurement to make the cold brew stronger or less strong.
- Stir the grounds until they are saturated with water.
- Screw the mason jar lid onto the jar and let the coffee brew in your refrigerator overnight.
- Remove the filter insert, and your coffee is ready!
And don’t throw those used coffee grounds away! You can use them to make a big batch of Bulletproof Coffee Scrub.
HOW DO YOU SERVE COLD BREW COFFEE?
I like to drink my cold brew over ice with a bit of cream and vanilla, but you can also mix up 2 parts cold brew to 1 part water and then heat it in the microwave for a strong cup of hot black coffee. Do you think you will be trying to make your own cold brew at home?

There are pourable lids that fit the Mason jar. Makes it easier to pour.

I do have a cold brew coffee maker with a filter, but I only use the pitcher. I grind my own beans, put them in a bowl with four cups of cold water. I don’t remember the ratio of ground beans to the water. I know that two grinds from my coffee grinder added to the four cups of cold. I put the lid on the mixing bowl and let it set at room temperature at least overnight. I strain it by using a coffee filter in a metal strainer. It does take time. I put the concentrated coffee in the pitcher. I use a wide mouth two + cup mason jar. My ratio is one cup concentrated coffee and the rest is cold water. I drink it black and add “coffee” ice cubes. That’s my summer coffee. In the winter, I use a percolator, not a drip, instant, Keurig machine. Do you know what a percolator is?
