We are just under a month away from Valentine’s Day, but honestly you can pin this tutorial and come back to it February 13th and still have time to have it ready for Hearts Day. This washi tape card is simple and adorable, and it is perfect to give to any loved one – spouses, friends, or family! Check out how I made mine.
I made this quick project as part of the Valentine edition of Craft Lightning. Make sure you visit 100 Directions, 30 Minute Crafts, and The Country Chic Cottage this week for all the other under-15-minute Valentine projects.
To make this card you will need: a blank cardstock card, freezer paper, washi tape, scissors, and a permanent marker. Start by drawing a heart shape on the non-shiny side of the freeser paper, making sure the heart is small enough to fit on the front of your card.
Cover the heart shape with washi tape. Be sure you are putting the tape on the shiny side of the paper.
Cut the heart shape out with scissors.
Carefully peel the washi tape back from the freezer paper, one piece at a time.
Apply the washi to the front of the card, making sure to match up the edges.
Alternate method: Before cutting, cover the washi tape with clear packing tape. Then cut out the heart. Peel the washi tape away from the freezer paper. The packing tape should hold the washi together creating a large washi sticker.
Hand write a short sentiment underneath the washi tape heart. Since I was using this super cute burger and fries washi from Target, I wrote,
We go together like…”.
You can use this simple trick to create all kinds of washi shapes for your Valentine’s Day cards. What will you make?
