A few months back I was visiting my local Dollar Tree when I spotted some wood tile boards. These square wood frames had a shallow lip which held nine wood tiles. I snatched up a few of these boards knowing they would be much more expensive at the craft store. I used a fun technique to turn a dollar store tile board into a pretty marbled resin tray. Don’t worry — I saved the tiles for a future craft project!
For the sake of transparency, this is NOT a sponsored post but I did receive the resin products for free. I am currently working as an ambassador for Envirotex, so I get a chance to play with all their great products.
This video will show you the process of creating a marbled resin effect on this dollar store board. I put out two new creative videos on my YouTube channel each week. Be sure to subscribe to keep up to date with all my tutorials.
If you would like you could stain and seal the wood frame before starting this project. I don’t mind the light pine finish, but I think a rustic barnwood stain color would be gorgeous.
I haven’t decided yet if I want to add any handles to the tray. For now I think I will leave it as is and just use it as a base for our dining room centerpiece.
