Next on the list of Homemade Mickey Mouse Party details is Mickey Mouse Menu I created for the party. The food for my daughter’s party was very basic with lots of make-ahead recipes and kid-friendly foods. The recipes are all very budget-conscious too, which is great if you are feeding a crowd.
If you have read any of my past birthday party posts, you know I am a sucker for themed foods. I am not above making up silly names for everyday foods if it means they will fit in with the theme of the party. I am a nerd.
Hot Diggity Dogs – Hot dogs cooked in a crockpot and served in buns in the hot dog holders from my son’s Baseball Birthday Party. Making the hot dogs in the crock pot was really slick. I didn’t have to be running around at the last second trying to boil up or grill the dogs so they would still be hot for guests to eat. I even sprung for the slightly more expensive Koegel hot dogs, a Michigan specialty.
Two-dles Noodles – My mom made a pasta salad with bow-tie noodles, Italian dressing, pepperoni, olives, and veggies.
Chips and Dale – Better Made potato chips (a Michigan company)
Minnie Carrots – Packaged baby carrots
Donald and Daisy Dip – Sour cream mixed with Fiesta Ranch Dip mix
Goofy Grapes – I made my delicious grape salad for the party. It’s one of those “Is it a salad or is it a dessert?” type dishes and is so good! The recipe is at the end of the post.
Pluto Punch – I made a huge batch of my aunt’s fantastic Harvest Punch recipe, and it was the perfect Pluto color! You can find the recipe at the end of this post.
I ordered the Mickey plates and napkins from Oriental Trading Company, but I think Wal*Mart carries the same ones in store.
I made the Mickey Mouse Cake and it was tasty, if I do say so myself.
The We’ve Got Ears Cupcakes were incredibly easy to make. I will share the tutorials for the cake and cupcakes later today, along with the special ingredients I used to make them!
MICKEY MOUSE MENU RECIPES
Goofy Grape Salad
4 lbs. green grapes
1 cup sour cream
8 oz. cream cheese
1/2 white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
Mix together sour cream, cream cheese, and white sugar. Stir in the clean grapes. Spread into a 9×13 pan. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the top of dish. Refrigerate overnight.
Pluto Punch
2 – 46 oz cans pineapple juice
2 cans frozen orange juice concentrate
2 cans frozen lemonade concentrate
7 cups of ginger ale (Use Vernor’s – It’s made in Michigan, so that makes it better)
12 cups of water
Mix well. Chill, and serve
