Spring is a great time to start things new. Whether you are cleaning out your clutter, planting new flowers, or starting a new workout regime, Spring makes me want to give my routine a makeover. I used a few products sent to me by Martha Stewart Crafts to give a plain picture frame a useful makeover.
The theme for this month’s Martha Stewart box was Make It Better: Martha Makeover. Each item in the box was meant to help refresh my routine via crafts, food, and makeup.
PS I tried out that Maybelline SuperStay 24 hour lip color, and it gave me some intense color without drying out my lips like some other long-wearing lip color. It wasn’t a full makeover, but it was a fun change for a girl who normally wears very neutral lip color!
I got to work on making over the picture frame with some of the craft supplies included in the Martha box.
I applied two coats of the chalkboard paint to the cardboard insert of the frame. It occurred to me that some of my readers never experienced the old school green chalkboards in their classrooms growing up. I still remember banging erasers for my teacher and using the multi-chalk holder to create penmanship lines. I am totally dating myself with these admissions, I’m sure.
After the paint dried, I seasoned it with a piece of chalk and set about creating my chalk art. I am getting better at hand-lettering on chalkboards, but there are still times when I wish I could whip out a design quickly. Thankfully, Martha Stewart Crafts has these handy silkscreens and liquid chalk.
I just positioned the adhesive silkscreen on the chalkboard and secured it with stencil tape. Then I used the liquid chalk to pounce the chalk through the silk screen.
This perfect chalk art took me all of two minutes to create! The liquid chalk dries hard enough that you can’t smear it, but you can still wash it off with a damp cloth when the party is over.
I added a few more chalk details and placed the chalkboard back into its frame. I set up a quick craft night table to show you how you can use the sign for your next get-together.
I am totally digging these Weight Watchers Salted Caramel Brownie Bliss® bites. Weight Watchers is bringing back its Tasting is Believing Challenge, so you can try out a package of these baked treats and if you don’t love them, they will get your money back. I can’t imagine not loving chocolate and salted caramel though!
Speaking tasty food challenges, the Grilled Cheese Recipe Showdown is back. If you enter a delicious grilled cheese made with Wisconsin cheese recipe HERE before May 15th, you have a chance to win $15,000!
What makeovers are you excited to get started on this Spring?
