WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE PSL BATH SOAK
Most bath soak recipes consist of Epsom salt and some kind of fragrance oil. The magnesium sulfate in the Epsom salt is so good for muscle relaxation. This recipe adds powdered milk and instant coffee into the mix. The lactic acid in the milk can help to exfoliate the skin while adding a silky texture to the bath water. The caffeine and antioxidants in the coffee have a stimulating effect on the skin that helps it to look brighter and more refreshed.

DIY PUMPKIN SPICE BATH SALTS
Begin by scenting the salt with a pumpkin spice fragrance oil. You can use a combination of essential oils as long as they are mixed with a safe carrier oil like almond oil. I do NOT recommend using cinnamon essential oil in spa products as it can cause skin irritation.
In place of essential oils, I frequently use Lorann flavoring oils. While they are designed for flavoring candy or baked goods, they work really well to scent spa products. They are food and skin safe and fairly inexpensive.
Stir the scent oils into the Epsom salt until it’s well combined.
Add in the pumpkin pie spice to the Epsom salt mixture.
Once the Epsom salt is scented and “colored” with the oils and spices, you can layer it with the powdered milk, coffee, and sea salt to create a pretty gift this fall.

USING AND STORING THE BATH SOAK
Ingredient Substitutions
- To make these pumpkin latte bath salts dairy-free, you can replace the powdered milk with coconut milk powder.
- If you have sensitive skin, I recommend omitting the pumpkin pie spice. There is only a very small amount of cinnamon in the spice mix, but it may still irritate sensitive skin. You can tint the Epsom salt with skin-safe pigments like mica powder or skip adding color to that layer completely.
Using the Homemade Bath Salts
- Store the pumpkin spice latte bath soak in an air-tight container when not in use.
- Add 1/4 – 1/2 cup of the blend into a warm bath and still to dissolve.

Love thus idea, however, the cinnamon. In the actual powdered pumpkin spice blend can be just as irritating to skin as hot essential oils like cinnamon can. There really is no guaranteed safe way to use such essential oils without heavily diluting them for safety when using them topically. Since cinnamon is ground, its essential oils are released and can cause issues.
May I suggest putting part of a cinnamon stick in the mix and letting it set to achieve the desired scent?
Looking forward to more of your fun ideas and recipes!

I agree, that is why I suggested omitting the pumpkin pie spice for sensitive skin.
