For TEN years now I have created a new set of free Shakespeare printables before Valentine’s Day. This year, I have designed three printables featuring famous Shakespeare couples from the Bard’s plays. Spoiler alert: Romeo and Juliet are not included.

HOW TO GET THE PRINTABLE
I am so excited to give you these printables (and so many others) for free! To access the printables, sign up for a Mad in Crafts Freebies Membership using the form or by signing up HERE. Don’t worry, the membership won’t cost you a penny, but it WILL give you access to all of the freebies I have shared here on Mad in Crafts. All of my printables are free for personal use only.
You will find this printable in the SHAKESPEARE section of the Freebie Gallery.
WHY DID I CHOOSE THESE SHAKESPEAREAN COUPLES (AND NOT OTHERS)?
This is probably a hot take, but there aren’t a ton of healthy, non-toxic couples in Shakespeare’s plays. Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, Othello and Desdemona, Hamlet and Ophelia, Antony and Cleopatra… “star-crossed lovers” is putting it lightly!
In my opinion, easily the best couple in all of Shakespeare is Beatrice and Benedick. There is not much romance in Much Ado About Nothing, since they spend most of the play bickering and trading insults to hide their affections for each other. When they finally admit their love for each other, everyone else around them is basically like, well, duh.
Miranda and Ferdinand (The Tempest) and Rosalind and Orlando (As You Like It) are not entirely unproblematic. Ferdinand falls for Miranda at first sight and immediately declares his love (slow your roll, buddy), and Rosalind lies to Orlando about her real identity until the end of the play, but all is forgiven so the play has a happy ending.
The real test is that nobody in any of these three couples kills themselves (or pretends to kill themselves), their partners, or someone else during the course of the play. And I guess that is the bar here.
