HOW TO USE THE CRAYON-HOLDING VALENTINES
Once you have saved the PDF file to your computer, print copies of the free valentine card on cardstock or heavier-weight paper. I do NOT recommend using standard printer paper for these cards as they will rip when you insert the crayons.
Using scissors, cut along the outer black line of the card. Then use a craft knife to cut the dotted lines where the crayons will be held. You can either cut the circles out completely or cut Xs inside the circles.
Carefully insert crayons into the three crayon-holding slots. Add your name and the recipient’s name onto the front of the Valentine. Finally, you can then choose to fold the card along the dotted center line and insert the card into an envelope or you can give the card as it is.
The person who receives the card can then cut along the center dotted line to remove the portion of the card that holds the crayons. He or she can then use those cards to color the dinosaur coloring page. The colored card makes a great bookmark too!
These are great non-candy valentines if there are students in the classroom who may have dietary restrictions. Even if you don’t, kids get so many sweets on V-Day that it’s nice to be able to have a few classroom valentine ideas that don’t involve a ton of sugar.
