Although I always try to have a kind of, sort of theme for my Christmas decorations, I usually end up tweaking my plans several times over the course of decorating. I am not sure how to describe this year’s decorations, other than “cozy.” I think cozy Christmas decorations is a pretty fair description of the combination of raw wood, felt, and plaid that I landed on.
I bought a ton of Christmas decorations from the Target dollar spot this year. The wood trees, galvanized buckets, and tan and red ribbon are all from that addicting department. PS Check out how I turned the buckets into mini tree stands here.
The felt garland and the buffalo check bucket are from that section too. There are still a few final touches I need to add to our mantel decorations. I have ordered a live pine and cedar garland that will eventually replace the fake greenery at the top of the built-ins. I also need to pick up a bag of pinecones to fill up the plaid bucket. Have any of you used the cinnamon-scented ones in your house? Is the smell overpowering?
In our dining room, I decorated my white mini tree with vintage wooden garland and several of the bottle brush trees from my Consumer Crafts haul.
On the opposite side of the room, I set up my white paper mache village and trees. I added a few more houses this year, so it fills up the buffet. Check out what I did with the giant sized paper mache house here. The runner and cute wood snowflake lights are from the Target dollar spot too. I told you I raided that place.
You might not notice the two Lucite deer ornaments on either end of the display. Yes, they are way out of scale with the houses, and, no, I don’t care.
Do you have a theme for your Christmas decorations this year? I’d love to hear about them in the comments!
