BIBLICAL BULLETIN BOARD IDEAS
To make this resource a bit easier for you to use, I have created a small table of contents. Clicking any of the links below will jump you down to that portion of the post. I have added the Bible verse or verses under each image so you can read the reference for each design.
BULLETIN BOARDS BASED ON THE NAMES OF CHRIST
BULLETIN BOARDS FEATURING NAMES CHRIST IS GIVEN IN THE BIBLE
THE CORNERSTONE
Jesus is the cornerstone on which our faith is built. The Greek on the cornerstone is often referred to as the Ichthys. It is an acronym using the first letters of the Greek words meaning “Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Savior.”
I used green and blue bulletin board paper for the background of this board. I used a cheap sponge and grey and brown craft paint to create stone texture on several pieces of black poster board and one piece of black foam board — all from the dollar store.
The lettering is also cut from black poster board. I highlighted the Greek letters with a white paint pen.
IMMANUEL
Jesus is referred to as Immanuel multiple times in the Bible. The name is Hebrew for “God with us;” a fitting name for God’s Son who was sent to live under the law to redeem those under the law.
The background of my bulletin board was glittering gold wrapping paper from Target. I stock up on wrapping paper that will work for bulletin boards when the paper goes on clearance in January. I especially like glitter wrapping paper for Christmas bulletin boards.
I cut the angels, lettering, and Baby Jesus out of dollar store black poster board.
THE GOOD SHEPHERD
Jesus called himself the Good Shepherd. He knows His sheep and He laid down His life for us. This design is a simple reminder of God’s love.
I used reusable bulletin board paper for the background of this design.
TIP: The reusable paper is more expensive, but if you roll it up carefully when you remove it, it can be stored and used over and over. Plus, the next time you put it up, it will already be cut perfectly to size! I like this paper because the straight lines in the design are helpful for aligning any text.
The black and white elements are cut from dollar store poster board. The blue and brown elements are cut from cardstock.
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords and yet his only crown on earth was a crown of thorns, not of priceless jewels.
The background of this board is red bulletin board paper stamped with custom stamps made with cardboard and craft foam. I explain this process in this earlier post. I stamped the crowns onto the background with metallic craft paint. When it was dry, I added adhesive gems to many of the crowns.
The cross is made of crumpled and folded kraft paper from the dollar store and the crown of thorns is black dollar store posterboard.
I made the banner by cutting the design out of smart vinyl using a Cricut Joy. I weeded the excess vinyl, but left the design on the backing paper. I just stapled that backing paper to the board to serve as a banner.
I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
Christ is the light that shines in the darkness of sin in the world.
The background of this board is 2 rolls of kraft paper from the dollar store. I found the string lights in the $5 section of Dollar Tree, but you can find similar lights online.
The lettering is cut from colorful cardstock.
I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE
Because Jesus rose from the dead we know that we will live again as well.
I bought a pack of colorful cardstock from Michael’s using a 40% off coupon. I cut and layered those pieces of cardstock to create a pastel patchwork for the background of this Easter bulletin board. Construction paper would also work for a background like this.
The lettering is cut from white poster board and brown cardstock.
THE VINE
When we remain in faith in Jesus, our faith grows and we produce fruit in our lives.
I covered the background in kraft paper.
TIP: If you do two kraft paper backgrounds back to back, you can keep the paper up for both.
I bought an inexpensive set of faux vines online and stapled them around the text. I used sticky tac to adhere them to the wall.
The text I cut from purple and green cardstock.
THE WORD
I love the beginning of the book of John and its description of how Jesus was with the Father at creation.
The background of this design was plain black bulletin board paper. I cut a large half-circle out of yellow bulletin board paper to make the sun. The sheer sunbeams are yellow deco mesh.
I cut the letters out of adhesive vinyl with my Cricut Joy and adhered them to lengths of yellow satin ribbon to create the solid sunbeams.
