Thanks, you guys, for the great response I have gotten to the posts this week. You rock!
Since so far in the series I have only shown you bits and pieces of my Dollar Barn decorations, I thought it would be a good idea to finish it up by showing you how I have them set up in my home.
I use the top of the bookshelf in the living room as my mantel since we don’t have a real one. Going from left to right, you see a tin lantern that was my grandmother’s. I put some river rocks and spanish moss at the bottom of it, and put a candle inside. The ceramic bird is from Dollar Tree. I can’t decide if I want to paint it or not. What do you guys think?
To the right of that is a tabletop clock, the revamped dollar store plaque, and my pickling jar filled with river rocks and robin’s egg vase filler.
I set a few of my Ballard-Derived bird prints on the other shelves of the bookcase too.
On our sidetable, I put the bird nest candleholders next to a really pretty antique perfume bottle shaped like a peacock. I like to have Spring flowers around the house even when there is still snow on the ground outside, so I tucked a handful of irises into a colorful hurricane.
I am planning on having a few family pictures on this table too. We had professional shots done before Christmas, but I haven’t gotten around to ordering them yet. Whoops. So pretend there are some adorable family shots in the middle there.
More Spring flowers, this time daffodils, sit on another sidetable with my Dollar Tree birdies and a butterfly collage inspired by Ballard Designs.
Finally, I put together several Dollar Barn Easter elements on my dining room table. The sugared eggs and distressed terra cotta pot sit in a tray with the tortoise votive holder, the small grapevine wreaths and robin’s eggs. I tied some lillies up with twine and echoed the twine on a spring green pillar candle and on the two wooden candlesticks.
Would you believe me if I told you that in addition to the Dollar Barn Easter projects you see in these pictures, all the other decorations were either from a thrift store, Dollar Tree or from other places in my house? From the table lamp to the tabletop clock, from the colorful hurricane vase to the dining room candlesticks, nothing cost me more than $5 and most cost less than $1!
I tell you guys not just to brag (because I am bragging just a little bit), but to point out that it is possible to decorate THE WAY YOU LIKE for not a ton of money. It requires patience because you are not going to be able to go a thrift store and buy everything you want for your room in one shot, but it can be done. And it is really satisfying when it is all done!
If any of you incorporate an idea from Dollar Barn Easter in your home, I would loveLOVELOVE to see pictures!

After seeing the dollar tree birds on various sites, I bought a couple. I sanded off some of the grit on them and spray painted them white.
