When I shared my Faux Geode Necklace tutorial last week I promised I would follow up with more information on the really cool silicone molds that I received along with the Premo clay. I just started playing around with the cabochon mold and ended up with some adorable miniature donuts, cookies, and candy. My mind is always on dessert, I guess! Let me show you how easy it is to use the Sculpey mold to create mini sweets from polymer clay.

I used my cabochon mold and some of the tan clay to make the donuts and cookies. I just warmed the clay up in my hands and then pressed it into the mold. I gently rubbed off any excess clay and baked the mold at 275 for 30 minutes.
The clay shapes pop right out of the bendable silicone mold. Just give it a second to cool down before you try to remove the clay shapes because things in the oven get hot. Sometimes I learn patience through first degree burns.
These two shapes didn’t have any rough edges, but a little sandpaper would have taken care of them if they had.
For the mini donuts, I dabbed on some pink paint and then sprinkled on chunky dollar store glitter while the paint was still wet. Once the paint had dried, I gave it a coat of Mod Podge Super Gloss to seal the clay and add shine.
I used a fine tipped black Sharpie to draw some chocolate chips on the round cabochon to turn it into a tiny cookie. A coat of Super Gloss finished sealed the clay. I added earring backs to the cookie shapes with a dab of super glue.
I forgot to take pictures of the process of molding and baking these cuties, but it was very simple. I pressed snakes of white, yellow, and orange clay into the triangle cabochon molds. After baking them, I added kawaii-style features with a Sharpie and paint and coated them with more Super Gloss.
These sweets are definitely miniature. Here they are next to a nickel for scale.
The cookie earrings are perfect for kids, bakers, or anyone with a sweet tooth.
I haven’t decided what I am going to do with the mini clay donuts yet. If I can figure out how to get them onto jump rings, I think they would make adorable pendants on a necklace.
I am going to glue some magnets to the backs of my cute candy corn so they can always be smiling at me from our fridge. What would you do with a set of mini clay sweets?
