Although I am not a big fan of real live butterflies, I love butterflies as a symbol of Easter resurrection. I wanted to make a bright, happy wreath for Easter so I added a He is risen! banner and some origami butterflies to my Year-Round Wreath

I began by making two simple banners by cutting 3 inch lengths of wired ribbon. To create the distinctive banner shape, just fold the ribbon in half lengthwise, and trim an angle from the wired end of the ribbon to the middle fold 1/2 inch from the bottom.
I folded the top of each banner piece down 1/4 inch and glued them onto lengths of baker’s twine. Finally, I added foam letter stickers to read “He is risen!”
I cut brightly colored scrapbook paper into squares sized 4 1/2” up to 6”. Yes, it’s the same paper I used to make easy DIY cards a few weeks back. Love it! Then I used this easy origami butterfly tutorial to fold them into bright butterflies. This would be a fun thing to teach your school aged kids how to do too!
Once my butterflies were folded, I pierced the back of each butterfly with a floral pin and attached them to the wreath. Since the wreath form is foam, it is easy to add, move, or remove embellishments.
I used straight pins to attach the banners, but you could use floral pins just as easily.
Now I have a pretty wreath to celebrate Easter. Last year I decorated for Easter by painting some Rorshach-style butterflies, so I think I will have to make some more of those this year to continue the theme throughout the house.
