This week I will be sharing a variety of ideas for non-candy gifts to place in your children’s Easter baskets. Don’t get me wrong, I love Cadbury Crème Eggs as much as the next person (probably more), but it’s a good idea to balance out the sweets with other fun ideas.
When it comes to great gift ideas, you cannot go wrong with books. You just can’t, especially for kids. I am putting my former English teacher hat on for a bit to remind you how unbelievably important it is that you read with your kids. Grade school teachers can tell which students were read to by their parents because they have an easier time in ALL areas of the curriculum, not just Reading! Just 20 minutes of reading a day teaches skills that 1) help them learn logic, which improves math skills; 2) improve communication, which aids social skills; and 3) teach them how to concentrate, which makes school easier in general. Plus, reading with your children is a great way to get some quality snuggle and cuddle time with your energetic little ones!
My son is starting to read and I love watching him recognize words and get so much satisfaction out of making sense of the letters on a page. We recently received a Tag Reading System, and my son has barely put a book down since. We committed to the LeapFrog Reading Month Pledge, but the way we are going 20 minutes of reading a day is just the beginning!
In honor of Reading Month, LeapFrog is donating $2 million of books to America’s Schools. For each share of the the LeapFrog Facebook page’s Reading Pledge, LeapFrog will donate 5 more books! If you would like to join the LeapFrog Reading campaign, you can find out more about it here.
One Mad in Crafts reader will be able to add some LeapFrog books to a child’s Easter basket! LeapFrog is giving away a Tag prize pack containing: Tag Leap and the Lost Dinosaur, Tag Get Ready for Kindergarten, Tag Junior Toddler Milestones, and Tag Junior Animals Around the World. (Note: The Tag and Tag Junior styluses are not included.)
LeapFrog is also offering a coupon for $3 off all Tag and Tag Junior Books!
I was selected for this opportunity by Clever Girls Collective but content and opinions expressed here are my own. To take the LeapFrog Reading Month pledge, please visit their Facebook page. #LFReadingMonth #spon
