Painting rocks is a perfect summertime activity. Take a walk on a nice summer evening, and keep your eyes peeled for larger, smooth rocks. These are the best rocks for painting. Then you can spend the next day painting rocks, before heading on another walk to hide the rocks around your community. Today I am sharing my favorite dollar store rock painting supplies, so you can embrace this craft trend on the cheap!

You can find plenty of supplies at the dollar store to help paint rocks. These are just a few of my favorites. SIMPLE DOLLAR STORE PAINTED ROCKS
Take a walk down the dollar store beauty aisle to find the supplies for this pretty ombre flower rock. I used cosmetic wedge sponges to create the ombre and nail art polish to add a sparkly flower design.
You can add instant designs to your painted rocks with temporary tattoos. Finish your glam rock off with dots of gold glitter glue!
Add texture to your painted rock by dabbing metallic paint on the rock with a dish scrubber. What other unexpected dollar store items can you use to paint rocks?
HIDING YOUR PAINTED ROCKS
If you would like to, you can now hide your painted rocks around your neighborhood. Tuck them in amongst the flowers in a local park, under a tree by your favorite library, or place them outside a nearby small business. The colorful rock might just unexpectedly brighten someone’s day!
If you will be leaving the rocks outside, you will want to seal them with a clear, outdoor-safe sealer first. I personally love both Mod Podge Ultra and Outdoor Mod Podge for sealing in paint and embellishments.
