Do you have a Cricut-lover on your shopping list this holiday season? Or maybe a crafter who would love to get her very first Cricut machine? Before you hit the sales, read through my Cricut holiday gift guide which will help you make your craft-loving giftee’s dreams come true. 

CRICUT MAKER

This year I was able to upgrade from my Cricut Explore Air 2 to the Cricut Maker thanks to the generosity of the people at Cricut. I had been eyeing the machine since it debuted, and it was going to be on my Christmas list this year. I had heard good things about the machine from other crafters whom I really trust, and it has lived up to the hype. The machine is incredibly easy to use, and the software makes the process very intuitive. I love all the additional capabilities that the Maker has over the Explore. EASYPRESS

I was also able to try out the EasyPress for the first time this year, and I am hooked. I had issues in the past getting my iron-on projects to adhere correctly with my household iron. I was always able to get it to work, but not always without a few muttered swears. The EasyPress takes the guesswork out of your iron-on projects because you can perfectly adjust the temperature and the timer. I own the first version of the EasyPress. Cricut now also sells the EasyPress2 which has some new features and which comes in a few different sizes. If your crafty loved one already has a Cricut, this might be the machine to get her this Christmas.

KNIFE BLADE

I purchased the Knife Blade for my Maker machine specifically to cut HeatForm for this Halloween project. The knife blade accessory for the Maker allows you to cut thicker, sturdier materials than the fine blade will.  This might be a nice upgrade for the crafter who wants to expand the project she can make with her machine.  NOTE: This blade only works with the Cricut Maker, not with any other Cricut machines.

SCORING WHEELS

I wasn’t sure how much of a difference Cricut’s new Scoring Wheels were going to make with my projects, but I was pleasantly surprised. The two scoring wheels allow you to make perfect score lines in sturdy materials like acetate, thick cardstock, and more. NOTE: The scoring blades only work with the Cricut Maker, not with any other Cricut machines.

12″x24″ CUTTING MATS

Prior to this year, I got by using only 12″ x 12″ mats for all my Cricut projects. Upgrading to 12″x 24″ Mats has opened up far more possibilities in the projects I create. I have been decorating a bulletin board at my kids’ school this year, and the extra large cutting mats make it easier to create the large letters needed for the board. The larger fabric mat is especially nice for sewers who are using their Cricut to cut out patterns.

CRICUT TOOLS

I have had the Basic Tool Set as long as I have had any Cricut machine, and I think they are a must-have for any Cricut owner.  The tools are handy for weeding vinyl, removing leftover paper from cutting mats, and so much more.  If you are buying someone their very first Cricut, be sure to add these tools to your shopping cart as well.

SPORTFLEX IRON-ON VINYL

I have used Cricut premium iron-on vinyl and the lite iron-on as well, but I am smitten with their SportFlex vinyl. It weeds so easily and has plenty of flex to the final project. I used the SportFlex on the camping koozies I made earlier this year, and the vinyl doesn’t crack at all when the koozies are stretched over a can. SportFlex is specifically recommended for synthetic fabrics that have a lot of give to them (like sports jerseys). I can’t say enough good things about this iron-on vinyl.

PATTERNED IRON-ON VINYL

I am a sucker for buffalo check, so when I saw a set of Patterned Iron-On that included red and black buffalo check iron-on I had to have it. I love having the option of adding pattern to your projects, in addition to shape. I used some of the iron-on for the “We Whisk You a Merry Christmas” oven mitt I made last month. 

SHIMMER CARDSTOCK

I had never delved into the world of Cricut cutting materials until this year. While I have found that all of the Cricut papers I have used have been really nice quality, I especially love the Shimmer Paper.  The paper has such a lovely metallic quality that I had several people ask if this paper pineapple vase was really made of metal!

CLEAR ACETATE

In addition to having a wide selection of papers, Cricut also sells other cutting materials like the Foil Acetate I used to make some pretty favor boxes. If your giftee has a Maker machine, why not give her some unique cutting materials to play with.

CRICUT ACCESS

One of the most thoughtful gifts you can give to a Cricut crafter is a Premium access pass to Cricut Access. Cricut Access will allow her to use all of the wonderful fonts and images within Cricut Design Space all year long!
