CLEANING UP AFTER YOUR PETS — THE FUN WAY

Once the weather gets nice enough to have some windows open each Spring, I try to tackle our carpets.  We have a lot less carpet in the house since we finally got rid of the nasty wall-to-wall in our living room, but the kids’ toy room is still all carpet.  

Unfortunately, we have to walk through the toy room to let the dog outside.  This means that not only does he tend to track dirt over the carpet when we let him back in, but if we don’t attend to his potty emergencies quickly enough he has accidents on this carpet.  Super gross, especially in a room meant for the kids.

Cleaning the carpet does take a bit of time, so I try to make the process more fun by putting a playlist of dance songs on my phone.  I pop in some earbuds and have a one-woman dance party while I work.  If you are interested in my playlist, you can find it here.

When you run the deep clean cycle, you make three slow wet passes over each section of carpet, followed by one dry pass to suck up the water.  With my playlist going, I got into a rhythm and incorporated my dance moves right into my cleaning pattern.

You can see by these before and after shots, that my Bissel really took care of the pet stains on the carpet.  The room smells so much better now too!  I am hoping the Scotchguard in the Bissel cleaning discourages our basset from leaving any more stains on the carpet now that it’s clean.
