Does Halloween tend to sneak up on you. Don’t fret! Just head over to Joann and for $5-$10, you can have a last-minute Halloween costume that will impress. The reason this costume works is the use of a very cool technique that I learned from this Pattie Wack video. Instead of using regular puffy paint, I used the same kind of glow-in-the-dark paint that I used on my Monster Eye Pillows to make a necklace and a cuff and to decorate a simple mask.

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE PUFFY PAINT JEWELRY
You really only need two supplies for this tutorial, and you might already have one of them on hand! If you are buying a new roll of freezer paper, buy the big roll. You can use it to make DIY stencils for fabric projects too.

PUFFY PAINT HALLOWEEN JEWELRY
Make sure you are starting your project at least one day before you will be wearing your costume. Begin by freehanding a spider web necklace and cuff on the NON-shiny side of a piece of freezer paper with a permanent marker. If necessary, use pieces of your own jewelry to help you determine the sizes of the necklace and cuff.
Flip the freezer paper over so the SHINY side of the paper is up. Tap the paint down into the bottle’s applicator tip and trace your design with the puffy paint. Be sure that all lines connect, even if that means making the paint lines slightly thicker. Use the paint to add spider web designs to the black mask too.
Let the paint dry for 24 hours so that the paint can dry all the way through. Slowly peel the paper away from your necklace design. Repeat with the cuff.
EASY GLOW IN THE DARK HALLOWEEN COSTUME
For the rest of your costume, just pull some black clothes out of your closet. Lucky you! While everyone else will be suffering in synthetic fabrics or freezing in tiny outfits, you can wear whatever you feel most comfortable in! Lay the necklace onto your neck and around the back. The necklace should be fairly secure on your skin, but you can use a small piece of scotch tape to connect the web strands behind your neck for added security. Repeat the same process with the web cuff. Throw on your mask, and you are ready to party! The web jewelry and mask are interesting on their own, but the real Halloween magic happens when you step into the dark.
The glow-in-the-dark paint absorbs natural and artificial light, and then glows when the lights are turned out. If you happen to party somewhere where there are black lights being used, the jewelry will glow even brighter. BTW, if you think this is a scary picture of me, you should see the one I took with an extra long exposure on my camera. Freaky.
Obviously you could also use these accessories as the finishing touch to a more intricate Halloween costume if you aren’t a last-minute prepper. They would be very cool additions to a witch or spider costume.
When you get home, peel off the jewelry and store them between pieces of freezer paper so they will be set to wear again next Halloween. You can also stick the jewelry pieces to glass surfaces for a bit of extra Halloween decor.
