To save money at my wedding, I made my own bouquet and my bridesmaids’ bouquets out of silk flowers I got on sale at Hobby Lobby. Since I prefer simple, monochromatic bouquets anyway, it just seemed to make sense. I used hydrangeas, roses, calla lillies and berries for my bouquet. For the bridesmaids’ bouquets I gathered together hydrangeas, calla lillies, and orchids. The bridesmaids also wore orchids in their hair.
I didn’t leave the stems on the bouquets this long! I cut them about an inch below where the ribbon stopped. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were quite small, but I loved them! So petite and dainty!
When it came time for my cousin’s wedding last year, she asked me to do her bouquets AND her reception decorations (FUN!!! More posts on that later.). She also wanted single-color bouquets. Phew! She liked a little more complicated design for the ribbon and specified ABSOLUTELY no greenery. She also told me that if I used baby’s breath she would hurt me.
We went to Hobby Lobby during their lovely 50% floral sale and picked out a mixture of peonies, hydrangeas, and roses. I ended up using only peonies and roses for her bridal bouquet.
