Wine Glass Terrarium

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and All You® and Real Simple® but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #SpringintoMeTime http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

If you are a creative person, you know that AHA! feeling when you are inspired to make a new project.  Something sparks a chain reaction of thoughts, which line up and weave together into a new idea. The problem, for me anyway, is that it is hard to get a chance to sit down long enough be inspired. Sometimes I need to manufacture some “me time” to soak in some inspiration.

Now that the weather is getting warmer, the kids are asking to go outside to play more often.  While hanging out outside isn’t my favorite thing to do, it does allow me to sit and browse through some of my favorite magazines for clever tips and new trends.  I just picked up the new Spring issues of Real Simple and All You at Target and devoured them as my kids were jumping in puddles in the yard.

Real Simple Terrarium Idea

One of the sections in Real Simple gave some quick ideas for different things to do with wine glasses, including using them as planters.  I thought this was a fantastic idea and a great use for some of my succulent cuttings.

Just add some rocks to the bottom of the wine glass for drainage, top them with a 1/2 cup or so of succulent soil, and plant a succulent.  That’s really all it takes. You can find stemware at the dollar store or thrift store.  And if you use a cutting from a succulent plant that you already own, this project is even more budget friendly.

My brain was spinning with ideas for way you could use these pretty planters, other than just on your windowsill.  Add a simple tag to the stem of the glass and use it as a pretty place card for your Easter meal.  Add some pretty ribbon to the stem to use it as a unique wedding favor. Pair it with a handwritten thank you note and give it as a thoughtful teacher gift.  Once inspiration hits, the ideas start rolling in!

If you would like to get some Spring inspiration, Target has a fantastic in-store offer going this week.  You will save $2.00 when you buy any two participating magazines titles (All You®, Real Simple®, PEOPLE®) from 3/15-3/28 while supplies last. On top of that, you can save 15% on select special issue magazines (PEOPLE® Crimes of Passion, National Geographic® 100 Journeys of a Lifetime, TIME® Mark Twain, LIFE® Lincoln) using the Target Cartwheel app until 4/17/15, while supplies last.
