Stash-Busting Spring Decor

Have you joined Dollar Store Crafts’ April Stash Bust?  It’s not too late!  The challenge is to create at least one project solely from materials already in your crafting stash.

A few Mad Skills Parties ago, The Crafty Scientist linked up this fantastic Argyle Wreath.  That same day, I ran up to my stash and gathered together the materials to make one for myself.

I used yarn and felt in Spring colors wrapped around a foam wreath from the Dollar Tree.  After I finished the wreath, I decided to “Easter” it up a bit by hanging some of my PB knock-off Robin’s Eggs from pieces of twine.  I wrapped the twine around a pencil to get that springy look (Hey!  It’s a pun!) and then used stick pins to pin the eggs to the end of the twine.

The entire wreath was made out of materials in my stash, so it was free, free, free!

I bought these galvanized metal buckets from the Target Dollar Spot in March, so technically they were part of my stash come April.  I stuffed them with newsprint and added some Spring flowers from my stash to brighten my kitchen up.

Now the weather just needs to start brightening up too!

In the living room, I put together a Spring “mantle” using pieces I had on hand.  I can’t really call it a vignette, unless the story is:  Some robin’s eggs fell out of a nest in a flowering pear tree.  And also there was an H.

Oops.  Caught my picture-taking self in the mirror’s reflection!

The candle holders should be very familiar to long-time readers since I have used them for Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.  I threw in an initial I picked up at a thrift store and some of my speckled robin’s eggs.

I put a dollar store flowering pear stem into my pickling jar, also from a thrift store, and paired them (I am just FULL of puns today) with my twine-wrapped pears.

It really is satisfying to decorate and craft using only materials that I already own!

Have you done any stash-busting lately?
